THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Whispering Heights and Collingwood
Neighborhood maps. Use the
maps page to see a satellite photo of neighborhood and zoom in
on your house. Or use the schematic map to identify your block
watch group, or help a friend find your house.
Community involvement.
Find out how what's happening in the neighborhood. Meet
your neighbors, volunteer your time, and help improve the
quality of life and value of your home.
Whispers newsletter. Published
periodically throughout the year and delivered at no charge to
every household in the neighborhood, the Whispers newsletter
is a critical part (along with this WHCCA website) of the
communications "glue" that holds the neighborhood
and the neighborhood association together. Creating and
distributing the newsletter is a major time commitment by
dedicated volunteers. In recent years, the editor has
been Kim Cooney and distribution has been managed by Lin
Sanford and Judy Matthew.
If you have an idea or a full-fledged article, you can
submit it on this page.
Some older issues of Whispers newsletters are
currently available online. Other issues (both newer and
older) will be added in the future to provide historical views
of life in the neighborhood. Adobe Acrobat Reader
software is required to view these archived newsletters, but
it can be downloaded for free if you visit the newsletter page.
Landscape and garden.
The WHCCA manages the design and maintenance of the two
landscaped entrances to the neighborhood. Each year a
WHCCA board member is responsible for hiring and managing a
professional landscape maintenance company. This
volunteer is also usually responsible for organizing the
Spring Clean-up each April.
Neighborhood parks. In
recent years the neighborhood was privileged to get two new
public parks. The features and personalities of each
park are described on the associated page.
Neighborhood traffic. Of
course we all know traffic is bad everywhere near Seattle and
our neighborhood is no exception.
WHCCA email list
While the list is not being used during the "building
stage," the objective of our neighborhood email list is
to be enable the WHCCA board to provide important news about
neighborhood events or problems. No, you won't get spam by
subscribing to this list! And if you ever decide you don't
want another email from the board, just reply with that
request and your address will be removed from the list.
